Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Beaufort, NC vacation property experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 3 Minute walk to the Ocean! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, email the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
