Rental home tips:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 5th Floor oceanfront condo with awesome views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
