How to get the best rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Beaufort, NC area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Carolina Sunshine, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you reserve the rental. • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Beaufort, NC destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
