Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the best vacation home in Atlantic Beach:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. DIRECT OCEANFRONT Duplex with large decks next to Oceanana Fishing Pier. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
