Tips for getting the best Beaufort, NC rental home experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summer is high season in Beaufort. Book your Beaufort, NC vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Downtown home 1 block from waterfront with patio, front porches, streaming has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
