Strategies to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking your prefectrental home:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a specific Beaufort, NC beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
