Strategies to get the very best vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Beaufort, NC area. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose the perfectrental home:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Maritime West B1, Oceanfront Condo in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.
  • If there's a certain Beaufort, NC attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
