Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Second row, easy beach access, views and a pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
