Our top Emerald Isle vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental:

  • First, have your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Traigh Point: Oceanview and Soundview, 4BR, 3.5BA, Elevator! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
