Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Get the most from your budget:

  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Beaufort, NC area. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking yourvacation home:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 2-bedroom, Oceanside unit in Emerald Isle w\/ kids bunk room, 3-min walk to beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
