Booking the best Beaufort, NC vacation property experience:

When to reserve a Beaufort, NC rental & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, change your family's Beaufort, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best rental home:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 4BR duplex close to town and ocean front! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
