Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking a perfectrental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Chadwick Cottage in Downtown Beaufort, NC has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a particular Beaufort, NC beach you simply love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
