Our top Rental home booking tips:

Get the most from your budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Charming dog-friendly home near beach with central AC & W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
