Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 1 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific Beaufort, NC beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
