Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. New Oceanfront 4BR, 4.5B home with stunning views and spacious decks has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
