Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your Beaufort, NC vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront cottage; clean, modern, and close!! Play, rest, restore... has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
