How to book the best Beaufort, NC rental home experience:

Get the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Make a plan and choose a perfect Beaufort, NC rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Panoramic Ocean and Sound Views Fantasea Cottage on Emerald Isle has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is right for your group.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
