Tips and Tricks for getting the best Beaufort, NC vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Pet friendly cottage steps from the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
