Our top Beaufort, NC vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Roberson Cottage, Oceanfront House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is optimal for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
