Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to book a Beaufort, NC rental & When to go:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your Beaufort, NC rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. The Grey Goose (Waterfront) Historic New Bern - Private Beach - BRING YOUR BOAT! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
