Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Beaufort, NC area. To get the best value, shift your family's Beaufort, NC vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
