Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Unit 179 is a 2 BR\/2 ba condo on 1ST floor overlooking the pool & courtyard. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a specific Beaufort, NC destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
