How to book the best rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer months are high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking yourrental:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Cozy waterfront bamboo retreat, perfect for fishermen or outdoor enthusiasts has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
