Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Summer is high season in Beaufort. Book your Beaufort, NC vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.

You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.

  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
