The Wacky Turtle is an refreshed, beautiful two story townhouse with it's own dock on a enchanting canal. Bring your fishing rod! Tie up your skiff or modest fishing boat on your own dock. This striking home is in a "Norman Rockwell" like community which is safe for running, walking, and appreciating the outdoors. If you like to golf you are a stone's throw from the community golf course with a restaurant & open to the public. Appreciate your morning coffee and the charming view from the 2nd story balcony or from the deck off of the lanai or your personal dock on the water. Why is it named the Wacky Turtle? Savor the view or have dinner in the Carolina Room (Lanai), with all windows over looking the canal on the first floor. The master suite has a full bathroom. The 2nd bedroom has an attached sitting room with a daybed/trundle. This is the room that can be used as a 3rd bedroom, separated by toile drapes. This bedroom has a balcony overlooking the canal. It also has a intelligent TV. WiFi is included throughout as well as 2 designated parking spaces convenient to the front entrance. Quaint & artsy downtown New Bern on the water is a short drive. Paddle over to the marina close by with a restaurant & bar. You may rent this townhouse by the nighttime (minimum of 3 nights), by the week, or by the (discounted) month. How to get the best vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Beaufort, NC rental home:

  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
