Tips and Tricks to get the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To book the best rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect rental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Family Tides, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific Beaufort, NC destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
