Strategies to get the perfect Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Reserve your Beaufort, NC rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose the rightrental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Great Escape West, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
