Our top Emerald Isle vacation rental booking tips:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Sound & Seadogs Great Stay Middle Row! EI Bungalow 1 Min. Walk to Beach & Sound! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
