Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Beaufort, NC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Historic Alston-Charlotte Cottage in Downtown New Bern! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
