Years ago, when I was looking for a home on the island I came across this property. When I walked up the front steps for the first time, I entered into a calming little wonderland. Set up high on a sand dune surrounded by trees, this property is the ideal calming hideaway. Set smack dab in the middle of town, it is walking/cycling distance to nearly everything in Emerald Isle. It is 1 block from the sound and about 7 blocks to the ocean.

Tricks and tips to get the perfect Beaufort, NC vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Beaufort, NC area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Choose vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Island Treehouse has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
