Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Beaufort, NC restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and choosing yourrental:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Kolby's Kottage, Soundfront House in Beaufort, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your invoice.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
