Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Beaufort, NC area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Beaufort, NC trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect rental home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Beautiful 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths on sound and walking distance to beach and shops has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
