Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Beaufort, NC restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Choosing and booking the perfectrental:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Lighthouse Cottage DOG FRIENDLY -Historic District has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Beaufort, NC beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
