Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Atlantic Beach, NC, Direct Beach Access, Path to Ocean on Property has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, call the host before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
