Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, NC area. To book the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Beaufort, NC restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

How to choose the best vacation rental in the Beaufort, NC area:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Resort style, beach town cottage, 5 mins from the beach- family friendly. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
