Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Beaufort, NC vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Beaufort, NC area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sands Villa 519, Oceanfront Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
