Finding the best vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
