Strategies for getting the perfect Beaufort vacation rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Beaufort, NC area. To get the best value, shift your family's Beaufort, NC vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Temple Cottage - Walking distance to downtown has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
