Strategies to get the best Beaufort, NC vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, NC area. To get the best rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Beaufort, NC restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Club I104, Almost Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.

Know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
