Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, NC area. To get the best value, shift your family's Beaufort, NC vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sound Front Home with Dock in Downtown Beaufort, NC (Creek Watch) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
