Tricks and tips to get the best Beaufort, NC vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Booking in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Circa 1810 Home - Downtown New Bern Historic District - 2 BRs with King Beds has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
