This unique historic home was originally a dependency to the huge Coor-Bishop House located a half block away, where President James Monroe stayed in 1819 while touring the South.

The home contains two sizable bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and new King beds with new beds. One King bed can be converted to two Twin XLs upon request. The home
is newly refreshed with fresh paint, new furnishings, luxury linens and amenities and a new gas range in the well-appointed kitchen.

Walk to the riverfront, Tryon Palace and historic downtown and its many eateries, bars, stores, and galleries. Unwind on the screen porch. Cruise or kayak the Neuse and Trent Rivers. Take a short 45-min. drive to Beaufort, Oriental, and the handsome Crystal Coast beaches.

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Beaufort, NC restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Circa 1810 Home - Downtown New Bern Historic District - 2 BRs with King Beds has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
