Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Beaufort, NC restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanfront home with breathtaking views, West! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
