Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:

When to book a Beaufort, NC rental & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 3 Bed\/2.5 Bath 1450 sq ft with Large Open Floor Plan, 3 Min Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
