How to get the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Waterfront Home with Dock - Short walk to Ocean - Fish from the Dock has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
