Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Beaufort, NC vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the perfect rental home in the Beaufort, NC area:

  • To start, have your group agree to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Renovated Colony by the Sea condo with oceanfront views & direct beach access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
